The 5Point Film Festival will present the awards listed below upon conclusion of our event. Please check back on our site to see who wins! Each award winner will receive a $200 Black Diamond gift certificate and a $400 gift certificate from Patagonia.
Best Short Film: The Red Helmet
This short film tells a unique and original story presented without words. Beautifully captured footage of a number of extreme sports were edited well and combined with compelling music to powerfully convey the moods of the scenes. The story was enhanced further by creatively blending black and white with color footage.
Best Animated Film: Don’t Let It All Unravel
This is a great short film with a strong environmental message told in unique style without narration.
Young Filmmaker Award: Growing Roots
The artistic cinematic style and slow motion imagery of this film beautifully and compellingly capture the unique style of Taro Tamai’s snowriding in the Japanese backcountry. We look forward to seeing the completed film!
Best Cinematography: Chadar – The Ice Trail
The filmmakers effectively captured the harsh realities of life on this challenging journey. The viewer is drawn into the demanding experience by the awe-inspiring images of the severe and remote landscape cleverly combined with revealing close-up shots of their suffering.
Best Action Adventure Film: 20 Seconds of Joy
This film provides a unique look into the mind and emotions of an extreme adventure athlete in a well developed, filmed and edited story line.
Best of Festival: Red Gold
The jury felt that this film best reflected the 5Point Film Festival's five guiding principles: respect, commitment, humility, purpose, and balance. Beautifully shot and edited, this film clearly presents its story without narration using only the voices of the characters.
