Will Gurley works in painting, sculpture and public intervention. His recent artworks concentrate on themes surrounding landscape conservation and industrialization. Will believes art can confront the contemporary challenges of humanity’s relationship with nature. His works employ humour and nostalgia, alongside serious environmental commentary, as a means of engagement. Born in Denver in 1982, Will Gurley studied Painting at Rhode Island School of Design and also has a Masters of Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins in London. Parallel to his artistic practice, he is a designer for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, where he develops rides and attractions for the 175-year-old historic park. Will considers himself a Coloradan and the Roaring Fork River Valley his home. ART ON EXHIBITION
Derek Johnston has been a professional artist for over thirty years. His fine art landscape photography is in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago and has been honored with a Colorado Council on the Arts Grant in Visual Arts. Derek is currently a professor and Director of Professional Photography at Colorado Mountain College. “As an artist, my ultimate goal is to use my personal vision to help promote and educate people about the beauty, complexity and interconnectedness of the natural world in hopes of inspiring them to be better stewards of Earth.” ART ON EXHIBITION
Sarah is a self taught artist from Carbondale, CO. She uses art as a tool to convey environmental and humanitarian messages by teaming up with brands or organizations that share that mission. Sarah’s mediums are as diverse as the stories she tells—including illustration, watercolor paintings, live art performances, map making, writing, and poetry. Her style is whimsical and rooted in her own joyful connection to nature. Before pursuing art at age 30, Sarah had numerous roles in branding and event production in the outdoor industry as well as a professional cycling career that afforded her a world championship title. Carbondale based painter, Bobby Martin, has been honing his painting practice while making a living as a welder/metal fabricator and home builder. After a good run of sculpture shows in San Francisco galleries, Bobby and his wife relocated to Colorado and started a family. After an idle art-making period, he started painting and was honored to be accepted into the Drawing Center’s Viewing Program with his early output. In addition to painting, Bobby has a passion for furniture design and is working through prototypes of what he hopes will be the perfect picnic table. ART ON EXHIBITION
