A central part of our mission at 5Point is nurturing and supporting the next generation of adventure filmmakers. Fortunately for us, our good friends at Stio feel the same way. Together, we’re thrilled to launch the 1st Annual Emerging Filmmakers Pitch Event!
The event will give a select number of filmmakers the opportunity to pitch their film ideas in front of a live audience at our 14th annual flagship festival in Carbondale, Colorado (Saturday, October 16). The winning project will be awarded a $10,000 grant from Stio.
Submissions to the Emerging Filmmakers Pitch Event will open on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 and close on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Finalists will be notified on Monday, March 7, 2022.
The term “emerging” is intended to denote a person committed to the craft of filmmaking and storytelling. We’re looking for someone who has demonstrated that commitment for several years – but no more than ten – of practical film or video experience. Participants should be looking to kickstart a career in filmmaking/visual storytelling and have limited experience with sponsorship, distribution partners and external funding.
Must be a 5-10 minute documentary film

Film must be completed by March 1, 2022 for a 5Point World Premiere in April 2022
Stio and 5Point logos must be included as presenting
sponsors of film in the opening credits
Filmmaker must be able to attend 5Point Film 2021 to pitch the film as well as 5Point 2022 for the premier
Filmmakers submit films per application details below during the submission period of Wednesday, July 7 – Wednesday, March 2, 2022
On Monday, March 7, 2022 five (5) finalists will receive an invitation to attend 5Point to pitch their film
In order to be eligible for the award, the filmmaker must be able to attend 5Point Film Fest in Carbondale for the pitch event on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Finalists are responsible for covering their travel and lodging costs. Each finalist will receive an all-weekend pass to 5Point Film and a Stio swag bag.
The Pitch Event will occur April, 2022 (location and specific date TBD)
Each finalist will be given 7 minutes to pitch their idea to the panelists and audience. The jury has 8 minutes to ask questions about the project.
Footage, photos and other visual aids can be used throughout the pitch.
Up to two people are permitted to participate in the pitch (i.e. filmmaking partners, filmmaker and key character, etc).
