If you can physically pin it, tape it, glue it, write it, draw it—then you are invited to add to the large, community “bulletin board” throughout the weekend. It’s a living breathing, collective visual expression of the people who are sharing in this festival experience. And that means you. Rosybelle, the Mobil Maker Bus, will be stocked with supplies, prompts, and creative vibes!

Join Backbone Media and Chaco for a lively discussion on the Gig Economy and how pursuing your passion and working side ‘gigs’ is the norm in modern America. Whether manifested by pursuing a passion and turning it into a professional career or side hustles like AirBnB, Lyft or Uber, the gig life is a growing part of American culture. With no age requirements and low barriers to entry, recent studies show how ‘gigs’ are rapidly growing from 34% of the current workforce.

Carbondale Arts presents “National Parks Development” by artist Will Gurley, as well as “Settle Down In A Town Where Nothing Burns”, by artist Robert Martin, with an artist reception for both shows to the public on Friday, April 26, from 5-6pm at the R2 Gallery inside The Launchpad.
Gurley’s solo show “National Parks Development” is a parody about the development of the natural world, showing alternative uses for the National Parks, turning these national treasures into recreational and commercial facilities. The works will investigate and explore the shortcomings of modern development and humanities disregard and commodification of nature.
Martin’s solo show “Settle Down In A Town Where Nothing Burns” showcases the artist’s transition from his earlier sculptural practice to his current work with painting in a retrospective. His dioramas are carved from a variety of woods using hand and power tools. Martin’s narrative landscapes generally combine personal history, shared stories, and roadside observations.

Help clean up one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the country! Volunteers of all ages welcome! Join us for a FREE breakfast before cleaning up a section of the river. Prizes for: Best of Trash, Most Toxic, Most Useful, Most Unusual Trash, and Best Photo.
PARTICIPANT INFORMATION
Breakfast and registration starts at 8:30am at Lions Park and the Midland Spur side of Basalt Town Hall. Teams of 5-6 people are arranged, assigned a section of river, and head out to clean up around 9:15am. Entries of trash for prizes must be registered at Lions Park by 11:30am. Winners will be announced at 11:45am. Must be present to win.

Come join Jaybird for a community group run up Red Hill. Experience some of the Roaring Fork Valley’s classic single track on a 4 mile loop, topping our with an iconic view of Mount Sopris. Led by local trail runners in conjunction with Jaybird and special guest, Rory Bosio, from THE MOVEMENT (screening during Friday’s film session). The group will meet at Independence Run and Hike and Dos Gringos at 9am to depart shortly thereafter.

Join Carbondale-based artist Sarah Uhl for an immersive art workshop in the great outdoors. Meet at Thunder River Theater to collect art supplies and attend an artist demo, then relocate to Red Hill (one mile from Theatre) and hike to vista points to paint with watercolors. Please come prepared to drive or bike to the Red Hill trailhead from Thunder River Theater. No experience necessary. All art supplies provided. Bring a backpack, water bottle, and blanked if you want.
